If you have received a compulsory purchase letter from Gatwick Airport, please be assured that Gatwick’s new runway is not a done deal.
We are horrified that Gatwick Airport have sent you this blunt letter. They are carrying out a planning formality, as the government’s Transport Secretary has approved this new runway to be built – with little improvement to the current infrastructure that will benefit you.
Please do not be alarmed by the letter, but please do act accordingly.
- The map provided is of very poor quality – we suggest that you ask for a more detailed map, so that you can see your land/home location in relation to the new runway.
- Please register with Gatwick Airport (if you have not done so already), to ensure that they contact you in future, if you are to be affected. Gatwick must build outside of its boundary to achieve dual operations on two runways.
- More importantly, please join CAGNE (www.cagne.org), who have issued a letter of intent to serve a Judicial Review, and will be going forward with a JR if you help fund it. To date, residents have funded CAGNE’s award-winning legal team and qualified experts, who persuaded the Planning Inspectorate to turn down Gatwick’s application. It is the Secretary of State who has now approved it (with very little in the way of caveats), which means that this new runway will cost residents and taxpayers dearly.

Be assured, CAGNE has written objecting to this letter, as it is unsympathetic to the concern that such a communication would cause, as well as much of it being factually incorrect.
