As communities are expected to endure constant Gatwick aircraft noise we would urge you to complain via their website https://www.gatwickairport.com/business-community/aircraft-noise-airspace/noise-enquiries/
CAGNE continues to lobby to have the phone line re-instated.
According to the CAA rural residents to the west of Gatwick have seen a 11,642 increase in departures in 2017 compared to 2016 figures, the same routing, in part, to the arrivals swathe in the west with no respite.
CAGNE met with the Aviation Minister, courtesy of Rt Hon Anne Milton MP, to assist with noise issues that Cranleigh residents are suffering. We were able to present Baroness Sugg with a proposal for a fairer way to decide airspace changes via a process called SocialValueX.
The Reduced Night Noise Trial – Thanks to your mandate of opposing the trial due to the RNAV routes proposed. We were able to negotiate safeguards including the rotation of routing. This is now going to the design stage, but rest assured that we would strongly object if the safeguards couldn’t be met.
The Government will enforce RNAV routes and so we have no option but to see if they can actually reduce noise for communities via the trial. Gatwick will make sure whatever direction they take that it can’t be legally challenged which sadly probably means they will seek to carry out Government policy which seeks to reduce the number impacted by noise and so target rural areas!
The Civil Aviation Authority has produced another consultation, deadline for comments 10th September https://consultations.caa.co.uk/policy-development/draft-airspace-modernisation-strategy/
CAA ERCD report 1802 – Gatwick announce a reduction of noise contours and population impacted – CAGNE believe this is due to the concentration of flight paths.
The Gatwick Noise Management Board is to have a new constitution and the workplan for 2019 is to be set on 22nd August – please let us know your concerns about airspace in relation to noise.
Route 4 will return to a similar old status in October. There will be a full CAA consultation CAP 1616 which will take two years to address the issues with this route.
Government policy is encouraging airport to maximize usage for current facilities and thus Gatwick is looking at using the emergency runway in conjunction with the main runway. As the emergency runway is used already when maintenance is carried out on the main runway we do not believe there will be a requirement for a full airspace change and thus communities could automatically (subject only to planning permission) witness a large increase in flights.
The National Policy Strategy on aviation is due to be out in the autumn.
The CAA approves PBN (concentrated flight paths) for Farnborough Airport CAP 1678 http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?appid=11&mode=detail&id=8560
